Well, that sums up the new rules by which 9 men and women, sitting in judgment of others, will judge themselves. 

Not with a set of mandates. Not with a strict enforcement mechanism for those who stray. Merely a mirror, mirror on the wall, am I being unfair to one and all, directive. Self reflection as the guiding hand. I just can't wait to see if Clarence Thomas passes his next test of what is certain to be most stringent self imposed requirements. With Ginny peering over his shoulder.

Why are these people who are the final arbiters of the righteousness of our actions deemed above scrutiny by others? What makes them so different?

We have given them lifetime appointments that neither rain, snow nor an occasional foray into destroying the very fabric of this nation through decisions like those on a woman's right to choose or feeding our national obsession with guns, can cast asunder. Who treat precedent and reason as disposable commodities. These select few who remain untouchable by us while their feckless ethics code continues to make them untouchable within their own house.

One day I hope we wake up to  term limits and to ethical restrictions with teeth to rein in the worst excesses of those now bound only by their honor. Your Honor.
