What if there was a slate of alternate delegates at the Republican National Convention?

What if the rules committee was threatened and coerced by Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy and other party leaders to make a determination not to recognize the delegates who were "chosen" by way of the primaries, deeming the felony convictions of Mr. Trump a disqualifying event?

What if, despite being  unanimously informed by legal advisors that such an action was not supported by the facts and the law, the rules committee moved forward with the alternates? 

What if Mike Pence was then to be selected as the Republican nominee?

Would Donald Trump call Mr. Pence to demand he not to be a coward, but that he stand up for what must be done and call for the party to recognize the original slate of delegates?
