("The Speakership Is Yours Mike Johnson. Good Luck with That")
So now he will be compelled to demonstrate his gravitas.
Out of the embers of the Republican conflagration in the House, Mike Johnson emerged with Bible in hand, a set of MAGA values in his pocket and a mandate from those who anointed him to burn this place down.
What have they wrought, these men and women hell bent on parading their right to right wing this country into the middle of a demolition derby? Mr. Johnson will undoubtedly attempt to outperform Mr. McCarthy in a muscle flexing demonstration of his capacity to do exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time for the wrong reason.
And so we wait for the other shoe to drop, the clown car having been emptied and a formerly unknown, untried and untested now remaining as the last man standing.
It has been difficult to watch as these Republicans joust for the honor of leading this nation into darkness.
And it is not going to get any easier with a card carrying always Trumper at the helm. Mr. Johnson suggested that God brought all of us to this moment. God I hope not.
It is beyond my comprehension that there was not one vociferous response made by any Democrat to the new speaker's acceptance speech, extolling renewed belief in government again. This is a man who has refused to address his own vote against certifying the election of Joe Biden. --As Lou so correctly says, "We are in for it".
I do not trust anyone who has that kind of religious belief. We are in for it.
