And now we return to our regularly interrupted program.
While the world has not been watching, the Republicans have been doing what they don't do better than anyone in the long storied history of our country.
After having un-McCarthyed Kevin, they have been unable and unwilling to select the worst among them to lead their party to the land of shutdowns and grievances. Whispers of Mr. Trump taking time off from his self pity tour to abuse another branch, have proven unproven and most likely not permitted under Robert's rules of order while he is still bouncing from insult to insult. Jim Jordan lost an internal pre-vote to Steve Scalise, which then frightened Mr. Scalise into withdrawing less he actually be chosen. Which then prompted a last second fill in the blank to oppose Mr. Jordan and gather enough "he'll do" to make the entire process seem exactly what it is .
Meanwhile, the idea of addressing the many issues of great moment is pushed asunder. The looming escalation in Gaza and the ongoing tragedy in Ukraine, the agreement to actually pay our obligations, these must wait for the party to straighten out their own house before they can possibly hope to screw up the full House.
Recent events have made these inside baseball arguments seem beyond petty, beyond ridiculous and beyond insulting to a nation that sits and agonizes over truly epic disasters.
There are terrible, terrible people and tragedies beyond our worst nightmare that now occupy our attention and our emotion. We have no more room for your nonsense. Get your act together, choose whomever you deem necessary to make us the most uncomfortable and unhappy with your unfortunate thrusts and parries and let's move on.
If there is one thing we now have absolutely no patience for it is your charades and shenanigans. You are just not that important.
Good to have you back!
