What the Eye Cannot See

("On politics: Why debunked falsehoods about Haitian migrants gained traction")
It is the Republican Party's version of the Field of Dreams. Not "if you build it they will come" but rather "if you say it they will believe."
Because this dystopia is something this group is passionate about. This narrative perfectly fits their vision, is consistent with their desire to have someone, something to hate.
Because intense emotion, good or bad, makes us feel alive. It provides focus and meaning. It is a driving force, the centerpiece of the universe.
And even though the rational mind would reject thoughts of Haitian people systematically taking to the streets to do unconscionable things to our household pets, even as this fiction has been roundly ridiculed and categorically shown to be false, it matters not. For the Republican brand is not built on logic or reason but a burning desire of those drawn to it to feel the passion of the moment. Like a bee to honey, there is a magnetic force at work here.
While it may not fit my definition, or yours, of a Field of Dreams, while we cannot fathom how they can accept, on faith, the reality of such nonsense, it matters not one iota.
Hate, for the Republican leaders, means never having to say you are sorry. For it is not a lie if you only believe. Or at least if Donald Trump says it is so.
What the eye cannot see can still be revealed to the heart.
