The Insurrection - Part Two
They must be so proud. These few, these mighty few who can move mountains with their words. Or at least remove Mr. McCarthy. And bring a government to a grinding halt.
This is their day to shine. To come out from under a rock, to show the world what this country is made of, what we are capable of doing, or more precisely, undoing. To demonstrate that a 250 year experiment is not necessarily able to stand up to a strong breeze. Or a windbag or two. That what we took for a nation maturing might in fact be nothing more than a bad idea growing old and feeble.
We owe these few, these mighty few, a debt of gratitude. Who needs a democracy, who needs leaders, in fact, who needs any of this? Why not try on anarchy for a few moments, the absence of anything now being the new kid on the block?
These are the lessons they teach us. Each day, in as many ways as possible, with their shouts, their shrieks, their concerns, their conceits, their contempt and their conspiracies, they bring us ever closer to understanding the true meaning of life, or at least, lies.
These are today's masters of the universe. The tail wagging the dog, the inmates running the asylum, Alice and her looking glass in our homes and the halls of Congress.
This the next insurrection, merely minus the call for the head of Mike Pence.
So to Mr. Gaetz and his band of merry men, I salute you on a job well done. You have proven that a government is no stronger than its weakest link. And you are certainly that.
