The Inmate and the Keys to the Kingdom

Donald Trump's policies are based neither on facts on the ground or economic realities. Churlish, petulant, nothing more than a series of self inflicted wounds. Hopefully, this 90 day pause in the worst of the worst means the grown-ups have finally entered the room.
Our country has been seizing up since Mr. Trump regained control of the levers. But now Mr. Musk and his chainsaw are leaving. The courts are attempting to restrain the worst impulses of the administration on deportations, on the decimation of various agencies, on limitations on the freedom of speech. And the insanity of the tariffs around the globe is slowly receding.
Maybe, just maybe, the siege is now relenting. But, as Mr. Trump has recently suggested, we should "never say never." Not when this inmate continues to hold the keys to the kingdom.
