("An Open Letter to Governor Lee on the Slaughter of Our Children")
Let us stop pretending that our rage, our outrage can weaken the resolve of those committed to the atrocity that is our nation's obsession with guns. Neither blood nor blame, death nor denunciation, assassination of children nor accumulation of bodies will slow the onslaught.
Every article written assaulting the moral depravity, every lecture given on the smoking gun correlation of weapon and weeping, every image displayed of a life senselessly and cruelly ended, will have no impact on those who see no evil, hear no evil and dare not speak evil of anyone who manufactures and maneuvers, prevaricates and pretends, turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the dead piling up on the doorstep.
No matter how eloquent, passionate and convincing our plea, no matter if the thoughts come from President or priest, no matter if the sound of gunshots is a thousand miles away or next door, we waste our breath and our energy in trying to convert.
And tomorrow, and in the tomorrow's to come, we will repeat this dance on infinite repeat. Thrust and parry. Accuse and deny. Ask and not answered.
We give up on you, for you have abandoned any shred of human decency, compassion or concern. You are beyond redemption.
There is blood on your hands that can never be wiped away.
You are a killer.
So well said. At this point in time, ALL Republicans are killers. They have allowed their party to be taken over by the gun lobby and Trump crazies. If you are a Republican today, shrugging it off as 'my party doesn't have the political courage' or "my party doesn't have the votes' is the same as pulling the trigger. --RE
