Thanksgiving

Come uncle, come aunt 

Come one and come all

By highway, by skyway

Inch by inch, crawl by crawl

The Thanksgiving shuffle

On the eve every year

As we head far away

To those we hold near

Come turkey, come stuffing

Come cranberry as well

Come string beans, come gravy

Come bellies that swell

Come small talk, come big hugs

Come tall tales and truths

Come laughter, come memories

Come caring that soothes

From near and from far

From first light to dark

We gather our family

We gather our heart

But one day a year

And then it is done

A blink of an eye

And then setting sun 

But come we do

On a day like no other

Mothers, fathers 

Sisters, brothers

Come uncle, come aunt

Come one and come all

We hold dear Thanksgiving

And its wondrous call
