Taking Flight
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. But this Clark is a woman.
What better adventure for a 5 year old than to feel the unique power of Caitlin bringing an arena to their feet and her Hawkeye team one step closer to the fulfillment of a dream. 30,000 eyes following her from first step on the court to last.
It was a two hour celebration of greatness. "Did you see that" the coin of this realm, as she oohed and aahed us all afternoon.
The time passed quickly, a little girl on her daddy's lap, the joy of the day washing over both of them. With any luck, the love of this game finding a home in her heart.
And when it was done, when we had filled our plates to overflowing, when the crowd moved as one to the exits, there was a sense we had all been witness to something remarkable.
As I stepped outside, out of the corner of my eye, I swore I caught a most unimaginably wondrous sight streaking across the late afternoon sky. Not a bird. Nor a plane. This was Caitlin Clark. Taking flight. Even without a cape.
