("Trump Claims His Arrest Is Imminent and Calls forĀ
Protest, Echoing Jan.6")
A call to arms.
It is the reflexive response of Donald Trump when he feels wronged. And he always feels wronged.
As the dark clouds loom over Mr. Trump's very expensive evening with Stormy Daniels, the once and hopefully never again leader of the mostly free world, invites those who find his animus towards rational thought and truth intoxicating, to take up his cause. It has the smell of January 6th over every syllable.
Maybe Mr. Trump's light has been somewhat diminished, as the horses he backed in the midterms came up lame. But who among us can state with any degree of certainty that the reach of Donald Trump's bile has evaporated.
And so we wait for the indictment, for the possibility of a former President being fingerprinted, imagining a perp walk that will not be. Knowing that Mr. Trump's legions are still standing back and standing by.
Ready to inform us once more that from Mr. Trump's smoke comes fire.
If history is our teacher, we have much to fear about the aftermath of Trump's arrest. His followers will portray this as a "magnificent" turning point not unlike Hitler's "Bierhalle Putsch" which propelled that maniac's political ascension.
