("Liberals Are Unplugging from Politics. They Shouldn't Feel Guilty About It")
Dear Mr. Blow,
It is not guilt. It is exhaustion. After a near decade of responding with disbelief, disdain, dismay, disregard, distrust and as many disses as we could muster, Donald Trump is alive, well and seemingly stronger than ever.
We have demanded, denounced, defied, defeated and decreed his demise but Donald Trump has risen from the politically dead, resurrected his career, the slings and arrows, the actual flying bullets only having now made him seem invulnerable to attack and, in this moment, invincible.
We suffer from PETS (post election Trump syndrome). We are tired, tuckered out and torn up as the tyrant to be lords triumphant, smirking, smiling, smelling like a rose. We are sickened, saddened, sullen and slightly psychotic as we watch the parade of sycophants suck up to a man with an insatiable ego.
So we thank you for giving us a pass and allowing us the time to reconstitute, regroup, reorient and return refreshed, resilient and with renewed vim and vigor.
But until then you will understand if we merely turn off and tune out.
Yours truly,
Battered, Bothered and Bewildered
I'm defining my disgust: it's going to have to get a lot worse before it gets better.--RE
