("Oh Biden, What Have You Done?")
It should be called "Oops-Gate." For in truth, as Mr Biden suggests and we know, there is no there there. The classified documents in his possession a molehill to Mr. Trump's mountain. His response to his miscue that of a choir boy. Mr. Trump's a Mafia Don retort to the entreaties to just return the candy he helped himself to on the way out the door. But we know that in the hands of the Republicans, they will find Mr. Biden's transgressions were of a magnitude fully supporting the contention that he should be hanged and quartered.
And so we Democrats face the first test of our resolve to keep Mr. Biden as the chosen one for 24. We are already on wobbly legs, the President's age hanging over him, and us, like a sword of Damocles. We fear he will not be up to the task and that a few strong gusts of wind, like Hunter, a stray document or two lying on the front seat of the Corvette or some other inevitable near calamity of his doing or Republican invention, will blow him over.
We do not want Joe to leave but we are not really sure we want him to stay. That is not the feeling we hoped to be coursing through our political veins nearly two years before the next chapter in the now ongoing saga of can our democracy possibly continue to survive.
And oops is not the best way to hit the ground running.
It is going to get worse. The coming government shutdown over the budget, instigated by Republicans, will trigger an overall lack of confidence in government. This will be Biden's chance to shine. or not--RE
