THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO A PIECE IN THE NEW YORKER ABOUT TAKING A CLASS TO LEARN HOW TO WRITE A SONG LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT
("Write Like T. Swift"- The Talk of the Town-December 16, 2024)
I am too old or maybe not
To learn all Taylor's tunes
I was schooled on Beatle's songs
With teenage girls who swooned
I know not of her boyfriends lost
And Ms. Swift’s sad laments
Her facile thoughts and quick retorts
To those her dethroned gents
All I know is "Yesterday"
And Sergeant Pepper's band
I would have surely failed the course
Taught in Swift shorthand
I'm with you. I listened to an NPR interview years ago about Taylor Swift with her parents. I would not know her voice today.
