Imagining the Darkside - A Sneak Preview of the Thoughts of Mr. Trump This Evening (Sent with Apologies)
Good evening my fellow Americans.
Just six weeks ago I began my second term in office, committed to doing whatever was necessary to make America great again. Understanding that what I would ask of you, of this country, would not always be easy. That I would make decisions, make demands that would mean at least temporary hardship for some. I am not here to make friends but to make sense out of the chaos that I was handed. And so I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
Our government is full of bloat. Millions of jobs and billions upon billions of dollars without good purpose. I am at heart a businessman and like any business that wants to be successful, it must be lean and mean. And thus I began to rid us of what has made us weak and ineffective. What has led to this nation being trillions of dollars in debt. Debt I will no longer abide.
And as I have begun the task of correcting the errors in the way we handle our workforce, so have I begun to make the decisions and choices that will make us stronger throughout the world. Ukraine has been locked in a battle for three years with Russia. A battle whose time should have long since passed. America has allowed this war to continue by providing massive aid to Ukraine. The result has been death, on both sides, in the millions. The physical destruction of large parts of the country. And, if we continue to provide our support, the only certainty is more death and more destruction to no good end. I will not let that happen. I will not spend good money after bad. As an act of sanity, I will bring this war to an end. Now.
And as I will do with Ukraine, I have already done in Gaza. Since the day I took office, there has been an exchange of hostages, long, long overdue. The fighting has quieted. Hamas understands that the consequence if they do otherwise would be very, very bad. Peace will happen. I will not allow otherwise. And this area of the world will be as it has not been before. Better for all. Better for us.
We have brought a quiet to our own borders as well. Where under the Biden administration people were pouring in to our country, taking of our resources, our jobs, doing harm to our people, that is no longer the case. The numbers who now attempt illegal entry have not merely begun to lessen, they have become a trickle instead of a flood. Those who have in the past felt no fear of repercussion as they came upon our lands without our consent or authorization, no longer do so. We have strengthened our own resolve and have demanded of other nations that they do their part. Some have stepped up. But not enough.
And so I have imposed financial penalties, tariffs upon Mexico, Canada and China. Tariffs that will make them pay attention, make them slow the curse of fentanyl that has brought endless suffering to my fellow Americans. I have made it clear that this scourge stops here. Stops now.
We are a nation with great value, great values. Among them is our protection of the most important among us, our children. We will no longer allow them to be led astray as to their identity. We will no longer allow our schools, our hospitals to be places where they do not feel safe, where they are confused and, honestly, misled. We cannot, I will not allow that to continue.
And I will not allow those who would send out messages without truth, with ill intent, to be supported by this administration. Our press corps serves as a window into what this administration, what I am doing for the American people. It is a privilege not to be taken lightly by them. And so I have made certain that only those who hold this privilege dear will be allowed unfettered access to me. We are at our best when we are all in this together.
And that is the real message tonight. I am committed as ever to making this a better place for all. To do that I have made some tough decisions. But I am resolute in my belief that without this, we would not have brighter days ahead. And I am absolutely convinced that what I have done since taking office and what I will continue to do, will only make this country what it has been before. The greatest nation on the planet.
God bless you and God bless the United States of America.
God bless nobody.
