I'm staring at the TV screen

Trying hard not to scream

Each word worse than the last

The mockery leaves me aghast

I so long for quiet past

But now I fear the die is cast

Homeless now is how

Of happiness and glee

Every day an endless stream

Catastrophes and broken dreams

And all we find is cruelty

Unless we come on bended knee

It brings out the worst in me
