("Why Trump's Trials Should Be on TV")
Yes, the public should clearly have the benefit of first hand knowledge of the trials (and tribulations) of Mr. Trump. But if there is one thing that January 6th, the daily live cartoon of the televised Trump presidency and the OJ Simpson trial have all collectively demonstrated, it is that we see and hear the same images in diametrically different manner depending on the eye and ear of the beholder.
There is no simple remedy for the fictional universe created from the mind of Donald Trump. Neither withering cross examination nor bloviating nonsense, not huff nor puff, will materially alter the unalterable conviction of those convinced that no conviction of Mr. Trump can prove he is anything other than as innocent as pure driven snow .
Donald Trump once boasted he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and not lose a vote. The Congressional hearings detailing in triplicate every wrong he was intimately involved in leading to and giving permission for the attack on the Capitol, four indictments setting forth book and page of his myriad transgressions, recent findings by a jury that he had committed sexual assault and by a Judge that he was the mastermind behind a massive fraud in valuation of his assets, have provided ample proof of the truth of that pompous proclamation. He remains, as incredible as it seems to those who have followed the breadcrumbs time and time again to his doorstep, as popular as the day he descended that escalator in 2015. Strike that. More.
So show Mr. Trump as we should, in lying color but do not expect the needle to move away from him. For if the televised spectacle of OJ, from the slow motion pursuit of the Bronco all the way to the celebration by many millions when the verdict was announced, demonstrated one single undeniable reality, it is that, even with every frame of all the trials there for public consumption, Donald Trump is fully capable of getting away with murder.
