('The January 6th Committee Just Made History. Here's What That Means for Prosecutors")
Donald Trump is a man freed from the constraints of logic, morality or truth. Tethered only to his ego and his insatiable thirst for recognition, money and power. The January 6th committee is to be greatly commended for its exhaustive effort to shine the light in the darkest corners on one of the greatest calamities to ever befall this nation and for giving its most damning condemnation to the man who orchestrated it with impunity. His grave disregard for the well being of those who stood in harm's way, and the well being of our democracy is, without question, a deep and lasting stain upon the office of the presidency.
And it reeks of criminal intent.
All that being said, it is hard to imagine that justice will ever truly be served herein. Do any of us actually believe there will be a final reckoning, a declaration of guilt in a court of law and the sight of this former President of the United States forlornly staring out at the universe from behind a set of bars?
Maybe the same lack of faith in the system could have applied with equal force to the actions of Harvey Weinstein. Or Jeffrey Epstein. Maybe the inconceivable will one day be reality.
But we have been witness for so many years to so many egregious wrongs committed by Mr. Trump and, from where I sit, he is still in relative terms, wholly unscathed. Living his lies, cashing in on his NFT's and suggesting he will not merely survive, but will recapture the throne a few heartbeats from now.
So I apologize for my hesitation but I remember the Mueller report and the other myriad investigations that all led to what exactly? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
Your first paragraph says it all. Is he ever going to jail? Never going to happen. He will delay, delay, delay. That is not as important as to cut out his cancer from political discourse. Isolate him? Yes
