("Special Counsel Report Says Trump Would Have Been Convicted in Election Case")
Well that makes me feel so much better.
Mr. Smith's report confirming that Mr. Trump would have been a multiple case felon but for the intervention of one small fact: his impending ascension to the throne. Again.
His supporters, and the King himself, will undoubtedly assail the findings as mere vituperation, a tale filled not with truths but seething hatreds, not with findings of his guilt but that of his accusers, not with his wrongdoing but with clear and convincing evidence that Donald Trump was able to withstand the slings and arrows and emerge unscathed. A determination that Smith and his cohorts were the ones who would have done grievous harm to this nation but for the saving grace of the 2024 election.
And for the rest of us, the pain of what never was is only reinforced. To read that justice delayed became justice forever denied. To imagine what today and the tomorrow's to come would have looked like if Mr. Trump's misdeeds had laid him low instead of perversely elevating him.
Mr. Smith's report will soon be but an asterisk in the history books. Meanwhile we must live every day with the result of his prosecution's failure to launch.
Let's hope Democrats make it very difficult for herrdrumpf during the next four years.
