Donald Trump's Convenient Lies
('Everything Is Politicized'- Chris Christie on Trump, Harris and Hurricane Lies)
Kelly Anne Conway was correct: there are alternative facts.
Donald Trump lives by his own mantra in response to "inconvenient truths": lying but a necessary means to an end. While we most often use terms that sanitize, like "misinformation", Mr. Trump's relentless pursuit of power has a centerpiece unlike any we have ever witnessed.
And so truth becomes merely a commodity to be manipulated, bastardized and discarded when it does not suit the needs of the moment. Whether it be the actions of the government in responding to an emergency, the circumstances of life in Springfield Ohio, or a personal, political and business history reeking of deception and devastation, Donald Trump will "invent" a reality to fit his eye, to create images consistent with and in support of his narrative.
To be accepted into Mr. Trump's inner circle is to take an oath to suspend disbelief. To willingly, enthusiastically agree to promote the product they are selling at all costs. To draw only one line in the sand, to preserve and protect Donald Trump.
There are countless victims of Mr. Trump's mania. But none worse than this: nearly half of this country has bitten hook, line and sinker into the world according to Trump, and has confirmed Kellyanne Conway's assessment of the malleability of "information." In this universe, where truth is disposable, all that matters are the "convenient lies."
