That will be the certain refrain from the Republican chorus. While the third rail for the Dems is trying to mess with Medicare and Social Security, the elephant in the room for the elephants is suggesting that the rich get even a farthing less affluent.
So we dance the dance with which we have become far too familiar. And we end up exactly where we started, two parties staring at each other, pointing fingers, pounding their hand on the table and denouncing their adversary as the devil in disguise.
The bottom line is that the bottom line will continue to grow, the Republicans utilizing this negative as the ultimate negative in how to govern, until it is their turn to go to the front of the class when they will hope you suffer from amnesia and conveniently forget everything they have been saying about the consequences of our debt.
For now, Joe will request that the uber wealthy go to the barber for a trim around the edges and Don, Ron and the rest of the gang that couldn't talk straight will respond that the old are looking a little heavy and could stand to lose some weight.
Tit for tat. To and fro. Two dance partners just stepping on each other's toes.
P.S. This letter was written on March 8th. This morning (March 9th) the NY Times headline proclaimed the proposed budget was “Dead on arrival”
