What follows is the remarkable joint statement issued by Mike Johnson, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and John Thune, Majority Leader of the Senate:
"Today we are pleased to announce that the Congress of the United States stands in recess until January 20, 2029. President Trump has, with amazing courage and astounding competency, taken over all the duties and responsibilities which would otherwise fall to us. We willingly and gratefully cede our power to the President. Within the first hours of his second (but hopefully not last) term in office he has, through Executive Orders and general brow beating, brought the opposition (and our democracy) to its knees. He has done far more damage in just days then we could ever hope to in four years.
This is to provide legal notice that we will be on vacation, likely using some form of transportation and lodging voluntarily and properly supplied to us by donors who are clearly not looking to curry our favor.
We wish all Republicans good health and prosperity while we gleefully watch every immigrant, legal or not, self deport. God bless America and may God Bless and keep our glorious ruler."
I'm not surprised. But it's a good idea. The only thing missing is the doing away with the Inglorious Ruler, which will be taken care of in due course. In due course of what will be determined in due course.
