Christmas Eve and Rudolf Is Holding Out for a Raise
Twas the day before Christmas
Nearly end of the year
Santa counting presents
And all the reindeer
Someone is missing
Something's awry
St. Nick was worried
With nighttime so nigh
Where is Rudolf
Has he taken sick
Without him we're lost
We can't see a lick
My red nose is on strike
That's all he would say
Said he hadn't seen a raise
In ten thousand days
You can try to reach him
To negotiate his price
Otherwise we fear
No gifts for the nice
St. Nick couldn't believe it
This couldn't be right
This must be a prank
But why on this night
But Rudolf was serious
He had been underpaid
He was worth far more
Than minimum wage
He flew round the globe
Every year in a night
Led the team everywhere
With his shining light
But Santa was broke
Spent all on the toys
What would he tell
The good girls and boys
He tried to cajole
Gave it his best shot
But Rudolf was stubborn
Christmas or not
So if you look to the sky
On this Christmas Eve
And don't see reindeer
And you can't believe
Rudolf would do this
Would hurt us this way
Then I can reveal
This tale is a fake
No money can pay
For the joy Christmas brings
No dollars enough
For the way the heart sings
All Rudolf wants
All the pay he requires
Is the smile on the faces
Of those round their fires
When you look to the heavens
See the deer with headlights
It's just Rudolf and Santa
Wishing all a good night
