Changing Gears When You've Already Crashed
("Shifting Gears, Democrats Put Economy First")
The Democrats are trying to pull a James Comey out of their hat. Unfortunately, that is a trick they never learned.
Changing course now is an act of sad desperation. Whoever has been in charge of reading the tea leaves up until today should be handed their walking papers. "Its the economy stupid" has been staring us in the pocketbook for months.
No matter the cause, thank you Mr. Putin and Covid, those who brung you to the dance are guilty as charged. "It wasn't me" doesn't cut it in the mid-terms, never has and never will. So unless you confront the political devil head on, everything else is just a lot of noise on the periphery.
Yes, we know the Democrats are better humans, more compassionate, more of all the good things that we should care deeply about when we get in that booth (or wherever you push your levers of power). But, wake up and smell the odor of imminent defeat. Being good is not good enough. You have to be right, whatever right means for those you must entice.
So, telling the public today, October 25, to start listening to this new song I just wrote, reeks of imminent disaster. Even if what you wrote is the best anyone has ever heard, far too few will hear it. Or give a damn.
Too little, too late.
Too bad for all of us.
