("No One Told Me This Would Happen to My Body in My 40's")
Are you kidding me? Wait until you wander into your 70's (I am 72).
Let me start by saying I am fine and very fortunate. That being said, I have ongoing issues relating to my ears, my eyes, my back, my feet. Just since I turned 70 I have had surgery on my shoulder, a procedure in an area I choose not to mention, something called radial ablation on my facet joints whatever and wherever they are and, oh by the way, cancer.
So many around me have been far less lucky. I lost a sister and a cousin this year, have friends with Parkinson's disease, dementia, a large handful who have gone through their own cancer struggles and a relative with a host of issues too numerous to fit on this page. I have reached that dreaded stage in life where conversations often begin and end with a can you top this list of ailments.
So being in your 40's is a little hard around the edges? Buckle up and strap in cause you ain't seen nothing yet.
40 years ago after a high charged Merrill Lynch sales meeting , our manager jokingly stated, “Remember, money isn’t everything, health is 5%.” Well now, when we go out with friends for dinner , and go around the table for 40 minutes delving into our myriad of health issues ,I often remind them, that “Health isn’t everything, money is 5%”.
Don’t think I knew about the cancer—I’m very sorry to know that. Hang in there, old friend.
