(PGATour-LIV Golf Merger)
Let bygones be buy-gones. Or live and let LIV.
So we have the "framework" of a deal that appears to make the PGA tour the subservient partner. What about the outrage that was expressed, the dirty money that was papering over human rights violations, the thought that LIV can't buy love? Well, so much for truth, justice and the American way.
Or maybe the PGA was never what it suggested it was. Maybe Mickelson and the rest of the band of outlaws were not entirely dead wrong about their bosses and their mercenary motivations. Maybe this was never a battle of pure good versus the devil but merely head-butting of lesser or greater villains.
Will history treat the PGA unkindly for its apparent capitulation? Will those LIVers who took the first 100 million or so laid at their feet, be welcomed back with open arms or cold shoulders? Will there soon be a fifth major in the backyard of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud?
Time will answer all these questions but for now the only certainty is our collective shock that these sworn enemies are suddenly blood brothers. Red blood turned the color of gold.
Brilliantly done!
