Bang, Bang.

("What Euthanasia Has Done to Canada")
In the US, 9 out of every 10 attempted suicides by gun results in death. Every 22 minutes another person dies in this country, having taken their own life on the wrong end of a gun.
Mr. Douthat, do you and your concerns want to latch on to our own nation's cause wholly worthy of your fear of a dystopia? How about an America where people are given virtually unfettered access to kill themselves in a moment of distress?
We are outraged by our epidemic of overdose opioid deaths, yet the metronomic cascade of the end of existence for those who have perished due to self inflicted gun violence barely registers on the Richter scale.
Mr. Douthat, I recognize you are worried of the possibility that euthanasia will lead to the loss of lives too easily taken, but I ask you to show a five alarm fire level of disgust and disdain for those who dispense firearms like candy to a baby (figuratively and almost literally) without a moment's thought of backlash when the inevitable occurs.
If we open our eyes, the inescapable truth is that one plus one equals almost 3 funerals every hour of every day all year long.
If you are asking us to take us a hard look at a reality of lives taken with at least implicit government sanction, then I request you turn your focus and your bully pulpit to the cause and effect of gun ownership in this country.
Bang, bang. Another one dead.
