An Unbelievable Patriot

("Inside Donald Trump's Embrace of the Jan.6 Rioters")
We must have misunderstood him. When he said "unbelievable" patriots, he could only have intended it to mean "not credible." Something far different than the bizarre interpretation given that a former President would ever give explicit sanction to an assault upon the nation's citadel, our beacon of light on the hill.
No, he could not have given full throated approval to the damage done to the men and women charged with protecting the Capitol on January 6th, to the very building that housed those there that day to undertake the most fundamental of all duties in preservation of our democracy. Nor could he have suggested that these legislators, compelled to hide and flee from the real possibility that their lives were at risk in that moment, were the perpetrators of a crime, not its victims.
Thank goodness this has all been but a terrible misreading of the words utilized by the former President. For Donald Trump is, above all else, an "unbelievable" patriot. Truly and unequivocally unbelievable.
