An edited version of my earlier post "A Letter of Apology?"(reprinted below) is scheduled to appear in Letters to the Editor in the New York Times

("Sidney Powell Pleads Guilty in Georgia Trump Case")
A letter of apology?
That is an appropriateĀ punishment when you throw a rock through the neighbor's window, or steal bubble gum from the local candy store. It is decidedly less than adequate response when you have deliberately and repeatedly taken part in an effort to undo the results of a Presidential election with the clear purpose of throwing this nation into chaos.
I understand that plea bargains are just that, an accord reached intended to recognize a wrong was done but minimize the punishment inflicted. But telling Sidney Powell to go sit in a corner for five minutes, really?
"Dear State of Georgia: So sorry, didn't mean to hurt you. Go Bulldogs and love your peaches. Yours forever, Sid"
I understand the big prize at the bottom of the crackerjack box is the former President but I think Ms. Powell may have been convinced to assist in that undertaking even if her wrist had been slapped a bit harder.
Maybe what should have been required was a letter of apology to a larger audience like our entire country, no dessert for at least a week, and definitely no Georgia peaches
Way to go.
But letās hope she flips enough to make the wan sentence she got worth it.
Excellent insight!
