An edited version of an earlier post "Shut Up and Shut Down" (reprinted below) is scheduled to appear in Letters to the Editor in the Washington Post
("New York judge issues limited gag order after Trump sends disparaging post about court clerk.")
Judge to Trump: shut up and shut down.
Mr. Trump is the mouth that roared at Mexicans, John McCain, women, immigrants, political opponents, the FBI, the CIA and basically every other combination of capital letters, at Congress, at those who recognize global warming, who challenge autocrats and dictators, who believe in science, the Constitution, the rule of law, the sanctity of elections, truth, who have empathy for those struggling to hold on, fundamentally at everyone and everything that did not see the world according to Trump.
But he has reserved his most malicious invective for those who would hold him accountable for his misdeeds, namely the Judges and prosecutors, the witnesses and plaintiffs who hold his feet to the fire.
Donald, ferme your bouche. The echoes of the Joseph Welch scathing question to Joe McCarthy reverberate wherever you sully the air with your words for, sir, you have no sense of decency.
You are but a petulant child. And as such, the Judge's order is that you sit in the corner and think about what you have done.
Respectfully, Mr. former President, shut up and shut down.
…get thee to a gaolerie.
