A Poem by Me, Published Today, With an Assist from Mr. Tennyson
Wring out, wring out, its sound and sight
The dreadful and the dreaded
The path in which we headed
Wring out, the soulless dark of night
Wring out the old and bring in new
The joyful and the joyous
The sound of laughter's chorus
Bring in the light to now shine through
We are, we are in the storm's eye
Surrounded by its lies
Trembling from its cries
Left with endless why's
Wring out, wring out hate that devours
The terror and the pain
The evil and disdain
Wring out their destructive powers
We can in this moment rise
Embrace the best of our parts
Erase the beast in our hearts
And be as the eagle who flies
Bring in compassion from the cold
Bring in help to those without
Bring in hope to those who doubt
Bring in love, let it now take hold
Wring out the worst and leave us the best
Wring out the fears and wring out the tears
Wring out the heartless, the artless
Wring out the cruel and bring in the rest
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true
