Oh, how the faux mighty have fallen. Rudy Guiliani, in the aftermath of 9/11 the darling of his party, in later years relegated to trying to pick up the scraps Donald Trump left on the floor, now nothing more than a bad punch line. A one time, sometime shining star, burnt out.
Admitting defamation but seeming to contend it is constitutionally protected? Even in the pretzel bending universe inhabited by Mr. Guiliani this one is a doozy.
Donald Trump once promised he would surround himself with the best and brightest during his presidency. Instead he filled his warehouse with mini-me grifters, with sycophants and hangers-on worthy of nothing more than our opprobrium. And possibly none worse than the former Mayor of New York.
