("A Roadmap of Trump's Lawless Presidency, According to 35 Legal Scholars")
What is most compelling and confounding about these first 100 days is the realization of how fragile our democracy is. What Mr. Trump has done with his brazen assault is to declare war on our assumptions and beliefs.
The demands of the Constitution now appear as mere suggestion, to be discarded as the mood of the President dictates. The laws that restrict our worst impulses disappearing before our disbelieving eyes. The mandate of the Statue of Liberty now deemed an unnecessary weight that is but detriment to be cast aside and asunder. The constraints that kept the planet in orbit now fading from sight.
There is no one wrong of Donald Trump that stands taller than the rest. For this is all but one coordinated action, all intended to send a single message that what we understood was inviolate was not. That the security we had in knowing our tenets were stronger than one man, healthier than any disease that could imperil it, better than our basest instincts, able to withstand the tremors from any earthquake no matter the magnitude, was fundamentally, hopelessly flawed.
Donald Trump has done grave damage in the first 100 days, his mistakes piled as high as his staggering ego. He has created uncertainty and fear in every corner of the universe. And in the United States he has left a 250 year experiment hanging by the thinnest of threads.
Making this first 100 days often feel like democracy's last.
Well said.
The list of his misdeeds is endless, but i have yet to hear the dems suggesting solutions. What has happened to our DEMOCRATS , what has happened to our mainstream press?
